Veteran journalist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart Adnan Adams Mohammed has declared his intention to contest for a seat on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), pledging to strengthen grassroots participation, party communications and youth training.

In a formal memo to the party leadership dated October 20, 2026, Mr Adams said his decision to seek the position was driven by his commitment to the principles of probity, accountability and social justice.

“I write to formally announce my intention to contest for the position of National Executive Committee Member,” he declared. “My decision to step forward for this role is rooted in a lifelong dedication to the principles of Probity, Accountability, and Social Justice, coupled with a deep desire to serve at the highest administrative level.”

Mr Adams cited his experience across various levels of the party’s organisational structure, including serving as a Branch Secretary and Constituency Communications Officer, as well as co-founding the NDC Press Corps.

He said his involvement at both grassroots and national levels had given him an understanding of the needs of party members and the strategic responsibilities of the national leadership.

“Having worked from the branch level all the way to the national platform, I understand both the core operational needs of our grassroots members and the strategic imperative required at the national executive level,” he noted.

If elected, Mr Adams said he would prioritise three key areas: improving the party’s communication strategy to counter political opposition, strengthening youth and cadre training, and establishing more effective communication channels between regional structures and the national headquarters.

He argued that stronger communication between the national leadership and branch executives would ensure grassroots members are adequately resourced and their concerns addressed.

“Streamlining communication channels between national leadership and branch executives ensures our base is well-resourced, heard, and prioritized,” he stressed.

Mr Adams also pledged to draw on his professional media experience to help the party shape public discourse and communicate its policies more effectively to voters.

As the NDC prepares for its internal organisational processes, he called on delegates and party elders to support candidates with proven administrative experience and the capacity to implement effective strategies.

“The NDC remains the hope of the Ghanaian people,” Adams affirmed. “To deliver on this promise, we need an executive body equipped with experience, operational depth, unwavering loyalty, and proven capacity to execute winning strategies.”
