Police arrest two suspects over suspected sexual assault and murder of 11-year-old girl at Buduburam

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two men over the suspected sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old girl, Blessing Innocent, at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.

The suspects are Kingsley Ozor, 40, an autobody sprayer, and his 19-year-old apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe.

In a statement, the police said the case came to light after the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Gomoa Buduburam District Police received a missing-person report on Monday, October 19, 2026.

The girl's mother reported that Blessing had been missing since Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased visited the two suspects, who are neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on October 17. The police said that was the last place she was seen before her disappearance.

The two men were arrested on Tuesday, October 20, following investigations into the incident.

“In the course of interrogation, the suspects Kingsley Ozor and Jeffery Otaigbe admitted the deceased was with them on the above date,” the statement said.

According to the police, further investigations revealed that Otaigbe allegedly lured the girl into an unfinished building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her before discovering that she had become lifeless.

The police said Otaigbe subsequently led investigators to a location where the girl's body had been concealed beneath some shrubs.

The body has since been retrieved and conveyed to the morgue of St. Gregory Catholic Hospital. Arrangements are being made for an autopsy at the Police Hospital.

Both suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations.
