The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to ensure their budgets reflect the critical needs of their people.
The minister encouraged the assemblies to ensure their budgets respond to emergency and pragmatic needs of the people in their respective jurisdictions.

He said this when the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) began its composite budget hearing for the region.
The opening ceremony was held at the RCC Conference Room on Monday, October 19, 2026, with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, represented by the Chief Director of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Michael Owusu Amoako.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Owusu Amoako said the exercise will provide an opportunity to assess the performance of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies while identifying the priorities of communities.

He added that the process will also help ensure that government policies and local development needs are translated into realistic, well-costed and implementable programmes.
The budget hearing is expected to scrutinize the proposals of all MMDAs in the region to ensure efficient allocation and utilization of resources for accelerated development.
