The Court of Appeal has ordered a stay of proceedings in the trial of former National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba pending the determination of his appeal against a High Court ruling on the charge sheet.
A three-member panel of the court, sitting on Monday, October 19, 2026, granted an application by Hanan, holding that exceptional circumstances had been established to justify suspending the trial.
The application was filed after the High Court rejected his request to quash the charges against him.
In July 2026, the High Court dismissed the application, ruling that the charge sheet contained sufficient information to enable the defence to prepare its case.
Dissatisfied with the decision, Hanan, through his lawyers led by Godfred Yeboah Dame, appealed against the ruling and subsequently sought a stay of proceedings at the High Court until the appeal is determined.
Charges
Hanan and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, are facing multiple charges, including stealing, defrauding by false pretences, wilfully causing financial loss to the state, using public office for profit, dishonestly receiving, money laundering and intentional misapplication of public funds.
