Alhaji Jazzy Mubarik Inusah, an aspiring NDC Zongo Caucus Coordinator for the Ashanti Region, has launched a fierce verbal attack on the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the opposition party of being against the interests of Zongo communities.
In a hard-hitting statement to journalists on Saturday, shortly after undergoing vetting at the Ashanti Regional Office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Inusah questioned the NPP's desire to return to power despite what he described as President John Dramani Mahama's efforts to transform Zongo communities.
The outspoken aspirant argued that the development initiatives he attributes to the Mahama administration must be protected, warning against what he believes could be a reversal of the progress being made in those communities.
“The NPP are enemies of the Zongo community. President Mahama is doing so much for the Zongo communities, so why do they want to come back to power?” he challenged.
Alhaji Inusah suggested that the NPP's ambition to regain power raises questions about its commitment to sustaining the transformation he says Zongo communities are experiencing under President Mahama.
He maintained that his decision to contest for the coordinator position was driven by his determination to protect the interests of Zongo residents and prevent politicians from taking advantage of them for electoral gains.
We Won’t Be Used and Dumped
In what appeared to be a warning to political actors seeking support from Zongo communities, Alhaji Inusah declared that he would not allow residents to be exploited for political purposes and abandoned afterwards.
“I am coming to protect the Zongo communities and will not allow any opposition party to use us for their bidding and dump us,” he stated emphatically.
The aspirant said his vision extended beyond political rhetoric, promising to lobby for more development projects to address the needs of Zongo communities throughout the Ashanti Region.
He pledged to make the concerns of residents a priority and push for interventions that could improve their living conditions and expand development opportunities.
Development at the centre of his bid
Alhaji Inusah believes that effective representation requires a leader who can champion the interests of Zongo communities and consistently advocate for their development.
He said his ambition was to use the Zongo Caucus Coordinator position to strengthen advocacy for development projects and ensure that the concerns of residents received greater attention.
His comments signal an aggressive campaign approach centred on protecting Zongo interests, challenging the NPP's political ambitions and lobbying for development initiatives under the NDC.
