The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Robert Akator, over the alleged murder of a two-year-old boy at Wli-Afegame in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region.
The suspect was arrested on September 15, 2026, following a tip-off that led to the discovery of the child’s lifeless body, according to the Police.
The circumstances surrounding the boy’s death remain unclear as investigators work to establish what happened and determine the suspect’s possible involvement in the incident.
In a statement signed by the Volta North Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Felix Kwao, the Command said the child’s body had been deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The post-mortem examination is expected to provide further evidence to assist investigators in determining the cause and circumstances of the death.
Inspector Kwao confirmed that Akator remained in police custody as investigations continued.
The Command has also appealed to members of the public who may have information relevant to the case to assist the investigation.
“Members of the public are also encouraged to provide credible information to the Police to support the investigation and enhance public safety.”
The Police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and maintaining law and order in the region.
