Rhodalyn Alice Mbimadong, a grassroots leader and former leader of the Lordina Health Team, has officially submitted her nomination forms to contest for the position of Northern Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Her nomination forms were received by the party’s Regional Director of Elections, Dr Arnold Mashud, who congratulated her and wished her success in the contest.
Mbimadong has previously served in the party’s Women’s Wing and as an active member of the NDC Pro-Forum in the Northern Region.
Explaining her decision to contest, she described the position as more than an administrative role, saying it offered an opportunity to promote community development and increase women’s participation in politics.
“I submitted the forms to occupy the position I have applied for to redefine what the Women’s Organiser role can achieve for our people,” Mbimadong stated.
She said her ambition was to bring her grassroots experience to bear on the party’s mobilisation efforts, with a particular focus on improving the welfare of women and children.
“The women of the Northern Region are the backbone of our communities and the engine of our party’s success. My vision is to transition our mobilization efforts from simple political rallies to comprehensive empowerment programs that touch the daily lives of our women and children,” she said.
Mbimadong added that her experience as the former leader of the Lordina Health Team had exposed her to community outreach initiatives covering maternal health, sanitation, breast cancer awareness and general community wellness across the region.
She also said her involvement with the NDC Pro-Forum had deepened her understanding of the party’s ideological foundations and policy direction, enabling her to connect its broader strategic objectives with grassroots activities.
“We need a Women’s Organiser who understands both the heartbeat of the grassroots and the strategic vision of the party,” she said.
If elected, Mbimadong said she would work to empower the Women’s Wing, strengthen party structures, promote unity and help the NDC win more seats in the 2028 general elections.
She also appealed to party members to maintain peace and unity throughout the vetting and election processes to ensure a smooth contest.
As preparations for the Northern Regional executive elections gather momentum, Mbimadong said her campaign would focus on service, unity and improving the position of women within the party and the wider region.
“I want every woman in the Northern Region to know that her vote, her voice, and her welfare matter and together, we will build a women’s wing that is not only formidable at the ballot box but also a powerful force for good in our communities,” she said.
