Nine postgraduate students of the Millar Institute for Transdisciplinary and Development Studies (MITDS) have successfully completed their viva examinations, marking a major milestone in their academic journeys.
The candidates, comprising seven Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students and two Master of Philosophy (MPhil) students, completed the examinations over three days, from Monday, October 12, to Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
The exercise brought the students closer to completing their respective postgraduate programmes after nearly four years of research, dedication and academic work.
The examinations were conducted with the participation of internal and external examiners. Students of the institute and other observers also followed the proceedings, with some attending physically and others joining online.
During the viva sessions, the candidates presented and defended their research before the examining panels, demonstrating their knowledge, findings and understanding of their respective fields of study.
The seven PhD candidates who completed their viva examinations are Duut Daniel Janamah, Gariba Sato, Cletus Chevure, Gloria Pamela Adablah, Alberta Nana Adjoa Rockson, Zume Cletus Puordem and Samuel Sekyere.
The two MPhil candidates are Abdallah Abdul-Rahaman and Joel Daniel Atompoya.
Their successful completion of the examinations represents a significant achievement after years of academic commitment and research.
The milestone is also a moment of pride for MITDS as the institution continues to promote advanced learning, research and intellectual development.
For the nine candidates, completing the viva examinations marks an important step towards the conclusion of their postgraduate studies and the advancement of their professional and academic pursuits.
