The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has supervised the disposal of a 40-foot container of non-compliant imported diapers from Spain at the Vigour Safe Disposal Site at Shai Hills.
The diapers were described as loose, unpackaged and unhygienic, raising concerns about their suitability for sale on the Ghanaian market.
The disposal followed a joint inspection at the Tema Port involving the FDA, the Ghana Revenue Authority’s Customs Division and National Security.
In a social media post on Monday, October 12, the FDA said the exercise was intended to prevent unsafe products from reaching consumers.
The Authority stated that the disposal was carried out at the importer’s expense, alongside the imposition of applicable statutory fines.
“The FDA together with other stakeholders have jointly supervised the safe disposal of a 40ft container of non-compliant imported loose, unpackaged, unhygienic bale diapers from Spain at the Vigour Safe Disposal Site, Shai Hills, to prevent unsafe products from reaching the market,” the statement said.
The FDA urged importers to obtain the necessary regulatory clearances before bringing products into the country.
“We urge importers to secure all required FDA approvals before importation,” it added.

Don't destroy it in Ghana. Send it back to country of origin for them to foot the bill! They did on purpose because it was heading to Africa!
