The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has approved a filing fee of GH¢100,000 for aspirants seeking to contest for the position of National Chairman as part of arrangements for the party’s upcoming national executive elections.
The party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) has approved fees covering 14 national executive positions, including the General Secretary, National Organiser, communications officers, youth and women’s organisers, and membership of the National Executive Committee.
Under the approved schedule, aspirants contesting for General Secretary will pay GH¢80,000, while those seeking the National Organiser position will pay GH¢70,000.
The National Vice Chairman and Deputy General Secretary positions each attract a filing fee of GH¢60,000, while aspirants for National Communication Officer will pay GH¢50,000.
Candidates seeking to become National Youth Organiser or National Zongo Caucus Coordinator will each pay GH¢40,000.
The filing fee for Deputy National Organiser, Deputy National Communication Officer and Deputy National Youth Organiser has been set at GH¢30,000 each.
The National Women’s Organiser and Deputy National Women’s Organiser positions also attract fees of GH¢30,000 each, subject to special provisions for female candidates with disabilities.
Membership of the National Executive Committee carries the lowest filing fee of GH¢10,000.
In addition to the filing fees, all aspirants are required to pay GH¢2,000 to obtain nomination forms.
The approved arrangement also provides concessions for female candidates and persons with disabilities (PWDs), who will pay 50 per cent of the prescribed filing fees for the various positions.
However, the concession does not apply to the positions of National Women’s Organiser and Deputy National Women’s Organiser.
The party has directed that all payments be made online through its designated platform, forms.ghanandc.com.
The fees form part of the NDC’s preparations for its internal elections to select officers who will oversee the party’s national administration and organisational activities.
