Capital Meets Concept: A Senior Investment Voice Joins Africas Sport Industrialization Push

African Collaborations Group (ACG), a platform focused on the industrialization of sport in Africa, has appointed Chantelé Carrington, CEO of Invest Africa, to its Advisory Board. The announcement was made in London on 12 October 2026, according to a release distributed by APO Group on ACG's behalf.

The appointee
Ms Carrington became Invest Africa's CEO on 1 January 2024, having joined from PwC. She is an accountant and consultant by background, specialising in financial services, with more than 20 years of experience.

At PwC she was the UK's Strategic International Markets Leader, covering trade and investment with Africa and several other regions, and earlier COO of the Africa Business Group for the UK-Africa Alliance.

She is a member of the UK Government's Africa Investor Group and chaired the Advisory Group of the Technical Assistance Facility for the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020.

Invest Africa has hosted The Africa Debate in London for over a decade, an annual forum for Africa-focused investors and policymakers.

What ACG says it does
According to the release, ACG originates "bankable" sport and entertainment district projects. These are mixed-use, revenue-generating ecosystems, as opposed to single-venue developments. It says its "Victory District" projects must ultimately attract private equity firms, institutional investors and development finance institutions.

Its founder and executive chairman, Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard, said Ms Carrington's value lies in access to the investor community, reflecting Invest Africa's network of more than 400 member organisations. The release adds that she brings experience of cross-border capital flows and multi-jurisdiction structuring.

Why it matters
The release cites a projection that Africa's sport economy could reach USD 20 billion by 2035, which is ACG's own figure and not independently verified here. The broader point holds regardless of the number. Stadiums and sporting infrastructure on the continent have often struggled with financing and long-term sustainability. Bringing investor expertise onto an advisory board is a sensible step toward addressing that.

Points to watch
An advisory appointment is a strategic signal, not a financing commitment. As the platform matures, stakeholders will understandably look for:

named projects and host countries
the role of governments and PPP authorities

committed capital from investors and development finance institutions

benefits for host communities, including local jobs and access to facilities

Conclusion
Credible investors, clear structures and community benefit are what turn ideas into lasting infrastructure. Ms Carrington's appointment adds financial credibility to ACG's advisory bench. The real test will be the first bankable projects and the first investors to commit.
