Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Manso Nkwanta, Frederick Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Yentumi, has endorsed the party’s directive suspending premature parliamentary campaigns and urged his supporters to comply.
In a statement issued on October 11, 2026, Mr Nkansah said he supported the position announced by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, directing all prospective parliamentary candidates to suspend campaign activities until the official timetable and guidelines for the primaries are released.
He said he would respect the decision of the party’s national leadership, stressing that individual political ambitions must not take precedence over party discipline and unity.
Yentumi urges supporters to suspend campaign activities
Mr Nkansah has called on his supporters, sympathisers and well-wishers to halt all campaign-related activities until the NPP provides further direction on the parliamentary primaries.
He urged them to demonstrate discipline and respect the party’s established procedures while awaiting the announcement of the timetable and guidelines.
According to him, the suspension is necessary to promote fairness, maintain order and strengthen unity among party members ahead of the internal electoral process.
His appeal also places responsibility on his supporters to ensure their activities do not undermine the party’s efforts to regulate preparations for the primaries.
Reaffirms support for Bawumia and NPP leadership
Beyond the campaign suspension, Yentumi reaffirmed his support for the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the party’s national leadership.
He said his focus remained on the unity and progress of the party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
The former aspirant maintained that loyalty to the party and respect for its leadership were essential to building a united front ahead of the next electoral contest.
Calls for unity ahead of 2028 elections
Yentumi’s statement emphasised unity, peace and discipline as key principles for the NPP as it prepares for its next parliamentary primaries and the 2028 general elections.
He urged party members, particularly those at the grassroots, to respect the leadership’s directive and avoid activities that could create divisions during the internal electoral process.
His position reinforces his call for prospective aspirants and their supporters to exercise restraint until the party formally opens the campaign period.
Yentumi maintained that the NPP’s collective electoral ambitions should take precedence over individual interests, urging members to remain united and committed to the party’s objectives.
