NDCs Ho Central Treasurer Saviour Amakpa pledges stronger accountability and welfare reforms

The incumbent Treasurer for the National Democratic Congress NDC in the Ho Central Constituency, Saviour Amakpa, has reaffirmed his commitment to accountability, prudent financial management and a structured welfare system for branch executives as he seeks re-election.

Speaking during his campaign tour on Sunday, Mr. Amakpa said his visit to Sokode Gbogame was aimed at engaging branch executives, outlining his vision and requesting their mandate to continue serving as treasurer.

He described his campaign as encouraging so far, noting that the 2028 general election will be far more demanding than 2024. For that reason, he believes the constituency needs experienced hands—particularly in financial administration—to manage resources effectively.

Mr. Amakpa emphasised that one of his priorities is to mobilise more supporters for the 2028 agenda and lobby influential personalities from Ho Central who currently hold government positions to actively support constituency activities.

He cautioned that financial discipline will be crucial going into 2028. If resources are mismanaged or diverted, he said, the constituency will not achieve the electoral results it expects.

Another major concern he highlighted is the absence of a well-structured welfare system for branch executives. He assured delegates that he has already drafted a welfare proposal, which has been reviewed by experienced figures at both regional and national levels—receiving positive feedback.

On accountability, Mr. Amakpa noted that the constituency has long struggled with proper financial reporting. He pledged to ensure that every pesewa that enters the constituency is accounted for, restoring trust among grassroots members.

Mr. Amakpa, who picked number two on the ballot—just as he did two years ago—described it as the will of God. He expressed confidence that delegates will reward his contributions, including his financial support and role in securing victory for the party in the 2024 elections.
