The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to standing firmly behind Nurse Salomey Awiti Baffoe as she faces legal proceedings linked to the Ghana Jollof case.
GRNMA National President, Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to Nurse Baffoe in the Bono Region. The engagement formed part of Day One of the Association’s National Executive Committee Phase Three Regional Tour.
Nurse Baffoe is facing charges of abetment of crime—specifically, publication of false news—under Sections 20(1) and 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). Prosecutors allege that she assisted Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as Ghana Jollof, in circulating videos and recruiting others to share the content. These allegations remain unproven in court, and Nurse Baffoe has pleaded not guilty.
Mrs Ofori-Ampofo noted that the Association has monitored the case from the outset and has assigned legal representatives to ensure Nurse Baffoe receives the necessary support. She emphasised that although the matter does not stem from the nurse’s professional duties, GRNMA remains committed to her welfare and will continue to stand by her throughout the legal process.
The Association described the visit as a demonstration of its dedication to protecting and supporting its members, especially in moments of distress.
The case continues to unfold as legal proceedings advance.
