The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has expressed profound gratitude to prospective pilgrims, accredited Hajj agents, the media and other stakeholders for their cooperation in the ongoing mandatory medical screening exercise for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
In a statement issued on October 10, 2026, the Communications Directorate of PAOG, led by Mohammed Amin Lamptey, commended the stakeholders for contributing to the smooth conduct of the exercise so far.
The Office also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that prospective Ghanaian pilgrims meet the required medical standards before travelling to Saudi Arabia for the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
According to PAOG, it has established stringent medical criteria for determining the eligibility of prospective pilgrims, specifically tailored to the Ghana Hajj Mission for the 2027 pilgrimage.
The criteria, it explained, are intended to address key health concerns raised by the Saudi Ministry of Health while ensuring that pilgrims are medically fit and capable of safely performing the various Hajj rituals.
PAOG said the measures were designed to protect the health and well-being of Ghanaian pilgrims and contribute to a safer and more fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
Early Screening to Allow Time for Treatment
The Office further explained that conducting the medical screening early would give prospective pilgrims sufficient time to understand their health status and seek treatment where necessary.
It added that individuals referred for treatment would have the opportunity to receive the necessary medical care and undergo subsequent reassessment.
Prospective pilgrims who are subsequently found to be medically fit would be eligible to participate in the pilgrimage, according to the statement.
PAOG has therefore urged all stakeholders involved in the screening exercise to cooperate with the established procedures as preparations continue for Hajj 2027.
