Striking pre-tertiary teacher unions on Friday suspended their nationwide industrial action following an agreement reached with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC).
The suspension followed a series of engagements involving the unions, the Minister of Labour, Jobs and Employment, Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the Council of State and the FWSC.
The unions embarked on the strike about two weeks ago over unpaid promotion arrears, salary concerns and the implementation of a 20 per cent deprived-area/cost-of-living allowance.
The Government welcomed the suspension, saying it would ensure the smooth continuation of the education calendar.
