Police to arraign Nana Akua Addo’s husband after hospital discharge

The Ghana Police Service says Harold Norman, husband of Ghanaian fashion icon Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned immediately after he is discharged from hospital.

The Police gave the assurance following the circulation of videos and photographs on social media purportedly showing Nana Akua Addo and her child in circumstances suggesting physical abuse.

Some of the footage appears to show the fashion icon with visible injuries following an alleged physical altercation, while separate footage purportedly shows her child being subjected to physical violence.

In a statement dated Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the Police said the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) received a petition from Nana Akua Addo on August 20, alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.

The Police said preliminary investigations also established that the couple had previously come to the attention of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.

Following the petition, investigators arrested Harold Norman at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations.

He was subsequently cautioned and granted Police enquiry bail on August 29 with two sureties while investigations continued.

According to the Police, Norman was scheduled to appear before court on Wednesday, October 7, but his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to attend the proceedings.

“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital,” Police said.

The CID, together with the Ministry of Gender, is also working to secure social welfare support for Nana Akua Addo and her child as the investigation continues.
