Police in the Ashanti Region have launched investigations into an alleged child-stealing incident involving two pupils of Happy Royal International School.
Airport District Police Commander, Superintendent Kingsley Kawodie, confirmed that the case was reported on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in the Manhyia North Constituency.
Supt. Kawodie, however, cautioned against reports claiming that 11 schoolchildren had been kidnapped in the region, saying the Police had not confirmed such reports.
He explained that the case currently under investigation involved two pupils and had been classified as child stealing.
The development has also raised concern at Happy Royal International School in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The school's Headmaster, Francis Koomson, said management became aware of the incident at about 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, by which time the matter had already been reported to the Police.
“We don’t have first-hand information now, but we are relying on the Police for updates,” he said.
Mr Koomson urged parents, pupils and members of the public to remain vigilant, particularly when travelling during the early hours of the day.
He said the incident should reinforce the need for people to take precautions and remain alert to potential threats to their safety.
