
The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man, Tumbana Ane, for suspected drug-related activities at Paga in the Kassena-Nankana West District.
Police said 38 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were seized from the suspect during a search of his residence.
According to a statement issued by the Command on Monday, October 5, 2026, the search also led to the discovery of Tramadol and other prohibited drugs.
A tunnel was also found at the residence, which police suspect may have been used by Ane to conceal the substances and evade arrest.
Preliminary investigations have further revealed that the suspect allegedly operated brothels at an illegal mining site at Wuru, a suburb of the Kayoro community in the Kassena-Nankana West District.
The Police Command said investigations were continuing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and establish whether he may be linked to other offences.
Ane remains in police custody as investigations continue.
