A man posing as a police officer is reportedly wanted after allegedly defrauding a Pragya owner and fleeing with the vehicle and GH¢8,000 at Mankranso in the Ashanti Region.
According to reports, the suspect approached the Pragya owner under the pretext of purchasing the vehicle and subsequently accompanied him to a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor.
At the vendor's shop, the suspect allegedly claimed that network problems were preventing him from withdrawing money and asked the vendor for GH¢8,000.
He reportedly assured the vendor that he would repay the money shortly, claiming that he was heading to meet some of his fellow police officers at Mankranso Zongo Junction to collect money from them.
The suspect then allegedly asked the Pragya owner to drive him to Tepa, where he claimed he wanted to purchase a top cover for the vehicle.
Upon reaching Tepa, the suspect reportedly handed GH¢200 to the Pragya owner and instructed him to purchase an item on his behalf.
The suspect allegedly used the opportunity to take control of the Pragya and drive away while the owner was away.
He is also alleged to have left with the GH¢8,000 obtained from the MoMo vendor, leaving the Pragya owner stranded.
The incident has reportedly been reported to the police, with efforts underway to identify and locate the suspect and recover the vehicle and money.
