The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly has commissioned a newly constructed three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at the Bessakrom M/A Basic School to improve teaching and learning in the community.
The commissioning ceremony was led by the Cape Coast Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. George Justice Arthur, who joined the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, and the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North, Hon. Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, to officially hand over the facility to the school.
The newly commissioned block provides a much-needed Junior High School (JHS) facility for pupils in Bessakrom, addressing a long-standing infrastructure deficit that had affected the school's learning environment.
The project is expected to provide pupils and teachers with a safer, more conducive and suitable environment for academic work while supporting efforts to improve the quality of education in the community.
The ceremony brought together key education stakeholders, including the Cape Coast Metro Director of Education, Mr. Thomas Kwofie, a representative of the Central Regional Director of Education, the Headmistress, teachers and pupils of Bessakrom M/A Basic School.
Traditional leaders, Nananom, as well as residents of Bessakrom, also attended the commissioning to witness the completion of the project.
Speaking at the event, the Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to improving educational infrastructure across communities within the Cape Coast Metropolis.
The commissioning forms part of broader efforts by the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly to address infrastructure needs in schools and create an environment where children can learn effectively and have better opportunities to achieve their educational aspirations.
