“A fulfilled life is not measured by what you accumulate, but by what you activate.” – Abundant Robert K. AWOLUGUTU
The Emptiness of Accumulation
Atia Akolgo is a successful lawyer and entrepreneur. He is wealthy by all standards.
But he had no time for his family as he was building his business empire.
His wife and children deserted him. He was hospitalized for depression. He is not happy.
Many Ghanaians who travelled abroad for greener pastures returned empty. What a pity!
They left diamonds in their own backyards and went to foreign lands in search of diamonds. They wasted their lives.
Hear Og Mandino, accomplished author: “The greatest legacy we can leave our children is happy memories.” No mention of material wealth.
LIVING A FULFILLING LIFE: 7 PRACTICAL WAYS TO ACHIEVE IT
- Discover Your Why
A fulfilling life starts with hard questions: Why am I here? What is my major definite purpose in life? What sets my creative juices flowing? What am I passionate about? What do I do so well that people praise me for it? How do I want to be remembered? What legacy will I leave behind?
When we know our purpose in life and live it, a fulfilling life becomes inevitable. Use your gifts to impact the world. Romans 12:6 speaks to this truth.
- Activate Your Gold
Your talent is raw gold. Polish it to shine for the world. It is a tragedy to go to your grave with your talent still buried inside you.
When you share your gift with the world, that is living. That is the high road to fulfillment. Remember this: A talent unused is a life unfulfilled.
Your talent is your seed. Water it daily with hard work, grit and tenacity until harvest.
Success does not come easy. As Oprah Winfrey said, it is preparation meeting opportunity.
- Serve, Don’t Strive
Yes, you heard me right! Everybody can serve because everyone has talent.
Transforming lives is the main reason I write. Fulfillment is found in making life less difficult for others. Writing is the service I offer daily.
- Cultivate Gratitude
Expressing gratitude is a great way to start your day. Thank God for your life, your health, your family, your accommodation and more.
Focus on what you have, not on what you lack. This will change your perspective and improve your life.
To ward off worry and depression, count your blessings, not your burdens. Fulfilled people thank before they ask.
- Embrace Growth
Embrace growth; it is part of the fulfillment process. Read widely.
Personal development is important. It empowers you.
Love what you do. And do it with enthusiasm and determination.
Aim at reaching the apex of your career. Persist to reach the point of self-actualization and enlightenment. Fulfilled people are growing people.
A wise man said: “God has never put anyone in a place too small to grow.” Life is a school of continuous growth. The moment you stop learning, you are dead.
- Live In The Now
Living in the present moment is the best way to live. Unfortunately, it is a challenge for many.
Worry and anxiety make your moments chaotic. They steal your happiness.
Fulfilled people live in the present. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised.
- Leave A Legacy
How will you be remembered when you are gone? This writer will leave behind his books, articles, and lives touched and transformed.
Your legacy is not what you leave FOR people, but what you leave IN people.
CONCLUSION
Stop collecting, start activating. You are not here to collect things; you are here to release gifts.
“A fulfilled life is not measured by what you accumulate, but by what you activate.
Question for you: What gift are you activating today?
