Ewe Loyalty Foundation marks 5th anniversary, outlines plans for sustainable community service

The Ewe Loyalty Foundation has celebrated its fifth anniversary with a renewed pledge to deepen humanitarian service, youth empowerment, and sustainable community development in the Volta and Oti Regions and beyond.

The anniversary was held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Masito Royal Hotel Conference Hall in Mepe, on the theme "Five Years of Serving Humanity Together: Celebrating Loyalty and Our Next Steps."

Addressing members and guests, the Founder and Chairman of the Foundation, Mr. Julius Kukubor, said the organisation was established in 2021 to foster unity, friendship, compassion and collective responsibility while responding to the needs of vulnerable groups.

He explained that the Foundation's motto, "Our Home, Our Loyalty," embodies its core mission of encouraging citizens to contribute actively to the welfare and progress of their own communities.

Reflecting on its journey, Mr. Kukubor said the Foundation has over the past five years carried out several impactful interventions, including donations to the In My Father's House Children Village at Abor and relief support to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage in North Tongu.

He added that the group has also supported needy students and families with educational materials, sanitary pads, school uniforms, school fees, medical bills and emergency assistance.

According to him, the Foundation has spent over GH¢90,000 on these humanitarian activities, largely funded through contributions from its members due to limited external donor support.

He cited inadequate office equipment, lack of a permanent office space, inconsistent participation by some members and logistical constraints as some of the key challenges facing the organisation.

To address these challenges, Mr. Kukubor announced plans to strengthen the Foundation's administrative and financial systems, secure a permanent office, and pursue strategic partnerships and donor support.

He further disclosed that the Foundation intends to expand its social interventions and establish sustainable income-generating ventures, including a fish farming project to reduce over-reliance on member contributions.

As part of the anniversary, the Foundation launched a fundraising drive to procure 20 sewing machines for a mechanised apprenticeship programme designed to equip young people with employable skills in fashion design and dressmaking.

He noted that three young women have already volunteered to enrol in the training programme, with a qualified trainer ready to provide instruction, and appealed to patrons, corporate bodies, philanthropists and well-wishers to support the initiative.

In line with its commitment to community health, the Foundation also donated medicines valued at GH¢2,000 to the Mepe Health Centre to address critical shortages at the facility, a gesture received by the Acting President of the Mepe Traditional Council and Special Guest of Honour, Torgbe Kwasi Nego VI, who commended the group for its service.
