Sunyani Omanhene inducted into Bono Regional House of Chiefs

The Omanhene of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, has been formally inducted as a member of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs (BRHC) after completing the statutory processes required for his recognition.

The induction began with the administration of the Membership Oath by the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Nana Agyeman Badu II, formally admitting the Sunyani Omanhene into the House.

In his welcome address, Nana Agyeman Badu II explained the procedures involved in the certification and recognition of chiefs at the Regional House of Chiefs.

He said the process involves scrutiny by the Research Committee of the Regional House of Chiefs, consideration by the Standing Committee, approval by the General House, and subsequent recognition by the National House of Chiefs.

According to him, Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II had successfully completed all the required procedures and had consequently been certified as a legitimate chief and member of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.

Nana Agyeman Badu II urged the newly inducted Omanhene to provide exemplary leadership, uphold the values of the chieftaincy institution, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Bono Region and Ghana as a whole.

Her Ladyship Justice Jennifer Pokua Amponsah, a Circuit Court Judge in Sunyani, subsequently administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to complete the formal induction process.

Congratulating the Sunyani Omanhene, Justice Amponsah said his induction reflected the confidence placed in his abilities, experience, character, and commitment to public service.

She reminded him that the oaths he had taken came with significant responsibilities.

“The oath you have taken today is not merely a ceremonial exercise. It represents a solemn commitment to discharge your responsibilities with integrity, diligence, impartiality, and accountability,” she said during the swearing-in ceremony.

Justice Amponsah further urged Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II to work collaboratively with other members of the House, listen to the concerns of the people, respect differing opinions, and make decisions guided by the interests of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and the public.

“As you assume your respective responsibilities, I encourage you to work together in unity and with a clear sense of purpose. Listen to the concerns of those you serve, respect the views of others, and let the interests of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and the people you serve guide your decisions,” she stated.

She also encouraged the Sunyani Omanhene to approach challenges with wisdom, courage, and professionalism while maintaining the principles of integrity, diligence, impartiality, and accountability in the performance of his duties.

The ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, government officials, opinion leaders, and members of the public.
