The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has emerged as the best-performing Regional Minister in Ghana according to the September 2026 poll by Global InfoAnalytics, scoring a 77% performance rating.
The poll placed the Western Region (WR) in second position with 72%, followed by the Northern Region (NR) with 70% and Bono East Region (BER) with 68%. Oti Region (OR) and Ashanti Region (AR) followed with 66% and 65% respectively. At the bottom of the ranking is the Western North Region (WNR) which recorded the lowest rating of 33%.
According to the detailed breakdown, Eastern Region (ER) scored 54%, Ahafo (AHR) 56%, Greater Accra (GAR) 51%, Central (CR) 52%, Upper East (UER) 51%, Brong Ahafo (BR) 45%, North East (NE) 46%, Savannah (SR) 38%, and Upper West (UWR) 39%. The overall average performance rating for all 16 regional ministers stands at 58%.
On the national assessment of regional ministers, 10% of respondents rated their minister's performance as Excellent, while 48% rated it as Very Good/Good. 12% rated performance as Average, 24% as Poor/Very Poor, and 6% had no opinion. This puts the positive rating at 58% nationally.
Global InfoAnalytics said it surveyed a nationally representative sample of 8,951 Ghanaians aged 16 years and above from all 16 regions between September 1 - 22, 2026. The survey assessed respondents' perception of the performance of their respective Regional Ministers.
Scoring methodology: According to Global InfoAnalytics, the performance score is calculated as (Excellent% + Very Good/Good%) minus Poor/Very Poor%. Average and No opinion responses have been excluded from the calculation.
