Service Radio Books Project reaches more pupils with Dr Kyeremeh's support

Dr Thomas Agyekum Kyeremeh, a researcher and lecturer at the University of Ghana, has donated 2,000 exercise books, 2,000 pencils, 2,000 pens and 2,000 clear bags to support the Service Radio Books Project in the Sunyani West Constituency.

The donation is intended to assist pupils in selected basic schools as they begin the new academic year. Beneficiary schools include Chiraa Islamic Basic School, Nsuatre Urban Council Basic School and Amanfoso RC Basic School, among others.

Speaking to the media after the distribution, Dr Kyeremeh, through his personal assistant, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, said education remained an essential foundation for success regardless of a person’s background or chosen field.

"Irrespective of wherever you find yourself in life, whether in academia, artisanship, politics, agriculture, industry, business or clergy one requires some basic level of education to equip him or her to understand the dynamic nature of life. Hence, as a researcher and lecturer at University of Ghana, I find it very prudent to associate myself with anything that promotes education especially in the Sunyani West constituency. That is why I decided to support this project"

He encouraged the pupils to aim higher and remain committed to their education, stressing that determination and hard work could help them overcome challenges and achieve their ambitions.

"We all started from a humble beginning, but with determination and hard work I have reached this height in life, I therefore entreat our learners not to narrow their horizon. Hard work beats a relaxed talent and when there is a will, there is a way," he stated.

Kwasi Kumi Boadu, host of Service in the Morning, who spoke on behalf of Service Radio, said the project was established to use the media to support needy and vulnerable pupils who could not afford basic learning materials.

He said education provided an avenue for people from different backgrounds and fields to pursue opportunities and improve their lives.

Mr Boadu expressed gratitude to Dr Kyeremeh for the donation, particularly for providing additional learning materials alongside the exercise books.

"We are overwhelmed by this gesture, as Dr Kyeremeh even added 2000 pieces of pencils, pens and clear bag files each to the 2000 exercise books he supported the project with. Such a donation is desired of other benefactors to inspire hope in our young ones," he stated.

He added that Service Radio had also distributed an additional 2,000 exercise books through its platform as part of its efforts to support pupils and promote access to education.
