The Founding Partner of Robert Smith Law Group, Bobby Banson, has called for the removal of the heads of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
This comes amid discussions of the conduct of some of its officers during an attempted arrest of Manhyia South MP Nana Adjei Baffuor Awuah on Wednesday, September 23.
The attempted arrest of the MP by EOCO officers has sparked criticism after the officials were seen trying to apprehend him in what some observers described as a “Rambo-style” operation.
EOCO subsequently said it had invited the MP on two occasions in February 2026 but that the invitations were not honoured, leading to the steps taken to secure his attendance.
Reacting to the incident in a social media post on Wednesday, September 23, the lawyer criticised the agency’s conduct and accused it of engaging in actions outside its mandate over the past 18 months.
“The law is no respecter of persons” applies to both citizens and state institutions,” he said.
According to the lawyer, EOCO’s alleged conduct over the period warranted a change in its leadership.
“That office has gained notoriety in the past 18 months for abusive conducts, conduct outside its mandate and the heads must be removed. They are an insult to everything law and order,” he added.

Go and remove the head yourself. All of you are now showing who you are. The Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government has not only been corrupt but also the most lawless government Ghanaians have ever had. You want the head removed because you are scared of their radar reflecting on you and other corrupt politicians. Without EOCO, Ghana wouldn't be better today, and more importantly, a lot of embezzled money wouldn't have been recovered. The head of EOCO will be there until his pension.
