Kyei urges NPP delegates to retain Justin Frimpong Kodua as General Secretary

Edmund Kyei, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national communication team and former Asokwa parliamentary aspirant, has appealed to party delegates to retain incumbent General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK) in the upcoming national executive elections.

Mr. Kyei said Mr. Kodua’s continued leadership of the party’s national secretariat would be important to strengthening the NPP’s organisational structures and preparing it for the 2028 general elections.

He described the General Secretary as central to the party’s administration and said the position required a person with extensive experience and a strong understanding of the NPP’s structures.

"The General Secretary position demands a dedicated party loyalist who has served across multiple levels and truly understands our internal structures," Kyei stated.

He added that, "Justin Frimpong Kodua ticks every box and must be retained to complete the vital work he has started."

Mr. Kyei pointed to Mr. Kodua’s previous roles within the party and government as evidence of his experience. He noted that he had served as Deputy Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer and later as the substantive Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer.

He also highlighted Mr. Kodua’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), where he oversaw youth development initiatives nationwide during the first term of the Akufo-Addo administration.

At the national level, Mr. Kyei said Mr. Kodua had gained four years of direct experience managing the party’s national secretariat as General Secretary.

According to him, that period had given the incumbent extensive exposure to the operations of the party across its 275 constituencies and 16 regions.

Mr. Kyei argued that the experience placed Mr. Kodua in a strong position to understand challenges confronting constituency and regional executives and help strengthen the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 elections.

"When you evaluate the contestants, it is beyond debate that Justin Frimpong Kodua is the most experienced candidate, not simply because he is the incumbent, but because of his proven history within the NPP base," Kyei added.

He further argued that the party would require strong administrative and strategic leadership as it prepares for the next general election.

"Securing victory in 2028 requires JFK's strategic mindset and administrative competence. I appeal to all delegates who prioritize the party's success to vote massively for him," he emphasised.
