Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, has reaffirmed Ghana's openness to investors, describing the country as an attractive destination for investment in Africa.
He said the government is committed to creating an environment that will encourage investors to undertake projects that contribute to Ghana's development, particularly in the housing sector.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Sentuo Airport Garden City Project on Tuesday, September 15, Mr. Ibrahim said Ghana must position itself as a preferred investment destination on the continent.
He described Ghana as the “gateway to Africa” and urged investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in the country.
“Ghana is the home of investors and is the most attractive place. The heart of the world, all investors are welcome. We are in business,” he said.
Mr. Ibrahim said the government would continue to support private sector participation in national development, stressing that public-private partnerships would be critical to addressing Ghana's infrastructure and housing needs.
He also expressed optimism that such investments, together with government interventions, would help reduce Ghana's housing deficit, which currently stands at about 1.8 million units.
According to him, the government is targeting a significant reduction in the deficit in the coming years, with the potential to bring it below one million units.
