CSSPS resolution centres extended to September 18 over outstanding placement cases

The Ministry of Education has extended the operations of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) resolution centres to Friday, September 18, as efforts continue to resolve outstanding Senior High School placement cases.

The extension is intended to help address the concerns of students who are yet to secure placement before the reporting date.

Speaking on JoyNews, the Press Secretary to the Education Minister, Hashmin Mohammed, said the ministry was hopeful that the number of unresolved cases would drop significantly by Friday.

“The resolution centres will remain active from Monday till Friday, and we are hoping that by Friday, the numbers should be able to go down because on September 18, they will report to school,” he said.

Mr Mohammed disclosed that 33,726 students had so far obtained placement in various schools out of the 53,887 candidates initially placed under the self-placement category.

He added that the CSSPS Secretariat had recorded 9,948 cases at resolution centres across the country, with 4,531 of them already resolved.

The centres will continue to handle the outstanding cases, operating nationwide from Monday to Friday.

The facilities are helping students who have had difficulty securing placement through the regular CSSPS process or the self-placement option.

The decision to extend the resolution exercise follows the ministry’s earlier directive allowing students who were not placed during the initial exercise to select schools with available vacancies through the self-placement system.
