The Centre for Legitimacy and Rule of Law (CLRL), together with the Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI) and the LOVEAID Foundation, on Thursday, 10th September 2026, held a one‑day Inheritance Clinic in Ho to educate the public on accessing the estates of deceased relatives.
The event drew traditional leaders, students, business owners, professionals, and officers from the police and fire services, as well as residents seeking clarity on how to claim assets such as bank funds, houses and other properties left behind by family members.
Senior State Attorney at the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice, Andrew Dodzi Adugu, Esq., delivered the keynote address and urged citizens to familiarise themselves with Ghana’s inheritance laws to reduce delays and disputes in accessing estates.
Officials from the Births and Deaths Registry, Ghana Revenue Authority and the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) outlined their institutional procedures and explained how their agencies support individuals pursuing inheritance claims.
CLRL’s legal team—Michael Kwabla, Research Fellow, and Richard Nii Amarh, Director of Legal—briefed participants on court processes and the steps required to secure inheritance through formal legal channels.
Participants later engaged directly with lawyers and institutional representatives to seek guidance on specific inheritance concerns.
CLRL says it will continue to undertake initiatives aimed at strengthening justice delivery and promoting the rule of law across the country.
