The Ghana Police Service has interdicted General Corporal Robert Koranteng in connection with the death of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo on the Tema Motorway.
Ivan died in an incident that occurred on August 27, 2026. The Police Service said the officer had been identified and arrested following preliminary investigations into a viral video related to the incident.
General Corporal Koranteng is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
The Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has been assigned to establish the circumstances surrounding Baidoo’s death.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) is separately examining the conduct of the interdicted officer.
According to the Police Service, the two investigations are intended to clarify what happened and determine the appropriate course of action.
The Service assured the public that “appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigations.”
It added that the matter “is being thoroughly investigated” and pledged to take all necessary steps after the investigations have been concluded.
