Director of Field Operations for the United Party (UP), Hopson Adorye, has claimed that no businessman will be willing to sponsor the activities of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because of what he describes as the party’s “evil and greedy mindset.”
According to him, the NPP’s alleged treatment of some of its financial supporters has created a situation where business owners are now reluctant to commit their resources to the party.
Speaking on the Citizen Show with Kwabena Bobie Ansah, Mr Adorye alleged that the NPP has contributed to the collapse of businesses belonging to some individuals who previously supported the party.
He argued that such experiences have sent a negative signal to other businessmen who may have considered financially supporting the party.
Mr Adorye further accused the NPP of failing to protect the interests of individuals and businesses associated with the party, insisting that its alleged actions have resulted in resentment among some of its former supporters.
He described the party’s conduct as a reflection of what he called an “evil and greedy nature,” arguing that this would make it difficult for the NPP to attract significant financial backing for its activities and future elections.
The United Party executive also claimed that the NPP has “hurt and stepped on the toes” of several individuals through its actions and decisions.
He believes these developments have gradually affected the party’s public image and contributed to making it less attractive to some Ghanaians.
Mr Adorye maintained that political parties depend heavily on public confidence and support from individuals and businesses, and therefore must be mindful of how they treat their supporters.
He further suggested that unless the NPP changes what he described as its approach towards businesses and individuals, the party could face increasing difficulty in securing the financial and grassroots support needed for its political activities.
His comments come amid ongoing political discussions over the NPP’s internal challenges, public perception and prospects ahead of future elections.
