2024 teacher recruits’ salary arrears processed

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has acknowledged concerns raised by some teachers recruited in 2024 over outstanding salary arrears.

Management said available records show that the salaries and arrears due to teachers within the affected group have been processed, although some individual cases may still require further verification.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, the GES said it has consequently established a dedicated Help Desk at its headquarters to assist teachers whose salary-related concerns remain unresolved.

“Records available to Management indicate that the salaries and arrears due to teachers within this group have been processed. However, Management recognises that some individual cases may require further verification and resolution," the statement read in part.

The move follows a petition submitted by the Coalition of Unpaid Teachers, representing some teachers recruited in 2024, over unpaid salaries and related concerns.

According to the GES, affected teachers are expected to report to the Help Desk at Room 305 of the GES Headquarters in Accra with relevant supporting documents.

The documents, according to the service, will enable officials to verify the individual cases and take steps to resolve legitimate outstanding issues.

For teachers who are unable to travel to the GES headquarters, the Service has provided two hotlines to facilitate remote submission of their details and provide assistance.

“Management is committed to addressing all legitimate concerns promptly and safeguarding the welfare of teachers," the statement assured.

The GES urged teachers with unresolved concerns to make use of the dedicated support channels to enable Management to address their cases promptly.
