Accra: Fire destroys two wooden structures, two containers at Agringanor

Two wooden structures and two metal containers have been destroyed by fire at Agringanor, opposite the Asamoah Gyan Filling Station.

The fire, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, September 4, also destroyed the contents of the affected structures.

However, firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to several nearby structures, with no casualties recorded.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Legon Fire Station received a distress call through the Fire Master Control at about 12:06am regarding the commercial fire.

“The crew was dispatched at 0007hrs and arrived at 0030hrs to find the fire in progress,” the GNFS said in a statement issued on the same day.

Firefighters immediately commenced firefighting operations and brought the blaze under control at 12:58am before fully extinguishing it at 1:51am.

The GNFS said six metal containers and six wooden structures were salvaged during the operation, preventing the fire from spreading further.

“Six metal containers and six wooden structures were salvaged, while two wooden structures and two metal containers with their contents were totally burnt,” the statement said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.
