Corruption steals resources meant to improve lives of vulnerable — Bawumia

The 2028 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken a strong stance against corruption, warning about its impact on vulnerable people in society.

The former Vice President said corruption diverts resources that could otherwise be used to improve the living conditions of the poor, vulnerable and excluded.

Dr Bawumia made the remarks in a video seen by ModernGhana News on Wednesday, September 2, as part of the Pledge Against Corruption campaign.

He said the fight against corruption must remain a collective responsibility, particularly because the resources lost through corrupt practices could have a direct impact on the welfare of disadvantaged people.

"Corruption is an act that steals resources that could have otherwise been used to improve the well-being of the poor, the vulnerable, and the excluded in our society," he said.

Dr Bawumia also urged Ghanaians to place greater value on integrity rather than material wealth, noting that possessions cannot be taken beyond the grave.

"Let's be reminded that you cannot leave this world with riches, assets, or wealth. When you leave this world, you only leave with your deeds and your integrity," he said.

Declaring his personal commitment to the campaign, Dr Bawumia said he stands against corruption and called for greater commitment to integrity in public life.

"I am Mahamodu Bawumia, flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party for the 2028 election, and I stand against corruption," he declared.
