Ada West has lost a pioneer – Dr Divine Agyemang-Lardey mourns Anthony Yaw Klokpah

Dr Divine Kabutey Agyemang-Lardey, a member of the NDC in the Sege Constituency and aspiring counstituency Secretary, has paid tribute to the late Hon. Anthony Yaw Klokpah, describing him as a distinguished son of Ada, a pioneer public servant and a loyal member of the party.

Hon. Klokpah, who has passed away, served as the first District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Ada West District following the creation of the district in 2012.

In a tribute, Dr Agyemang-Lardey said the death of the former DCE had left Ada without a distinguished son whose contribution to the establishment of the newly created district would remain significant.

He noted that Hon. Klokpah assumed office at a critical period and played an important role in laying the administrative foundations of the Ada West District.

According to him, the former DCE's administration oversaw key infrastructure and administrative arrangements, including the relocation of the Assembly's offices to the refurbished Highways Department yard at Sege.

He also said Hon. Klokpah encouraged collaboration among private institutions, the Assembly and decentralised agencies to support development and advance the aspirations of the Better Ghana Agenda.

Remained loyal to NDC

Dr Agyemang-Lardey said although Hon. Klokpah's tenure as DCE ended under what he described as "bizarre and deeply unfortunate circumstances", the former public servant did not allow the experience to affect his commitment to the NDC.

"He could have chosen bitterness. He could have walked away. He did not," he stated.

Instead, Hon. Klokpah remained a committed NDC member and continued to support the party and its ideals until his death.

Dr Agyemang-Lardey said the former DCE's continued loyalty demonstrated that commitment to a cause should not be measured only by the positions a person holds.

He said Hon. Klokpah's life showed that a person's dedication to a political or national cause could endure even after losing public office.

Called for national unity

The tribute also recalled Hon. Klokpah's public interventions in 2025, when he encouraged Ghanaians to put partisan differences aside and work together for national development.

Dr Agyemang-Lardey said the late former DCE's message was that the period for political contest was over and that the focus should now be on developing Ghana.

He suggested that Hon. Klokpah's own political experiences may have influenced his call for Ghanaians to rise above partisan differences and prioritise the national interest.

‘Ada has lost a pioneer’

Dr Agyemang-Lardey described Hon. Klokpah as a pioneer whose place in the history of the Ada West District could not be erased.

He said although the former DCE's service may not have been perfect, his contribution to the establishment and development of the district remained significant.

"Ada has lost a pioneer," he said, noting that Hon. Klokpah would continue to occupy a special place in the history of Ada West as its first DCE.

He extended his condolences to the deceased's family and close relations, as well as the Royal Adibiawe Clan and the NDC family.

Dr Agyemang-Lardey urged the people of Ada to remember Hon. Klokpah's contribution to the district and uphold his call for unity and development.

He concluded by saying that although Hon. Klokpah's tenure in public office had ended, his commitment to his party and people had continued until his death.

"Your earthly journey has ended, but your footprints remain," he said, praying for the late former DCE's eternal rest.
