Baakoniaba roads still an eyesore, residents cry for help

Residents of Baakoniaba near Sunyani in the Bono Region are becoming increasingly worried about the poor condition of roads in the community. The roads have developed several potholes and uneven surfaces, making movement difficult for residents, drivers and traders.

The situation becomes worse during the rainy season. Heavy rains leave some parts of the roads muddy and flooded, making it literally unmotorable. Motorists are sometimes forced to drive slowly to avoid damaging their vehicles.

According to some drivers who ply these deplorable roads in Baakoniaba, they are compelled to drive extremely slowly, thereby overly prolonging traveling time within the area or from Baakoniaba to Sunyani or any of the other adjoining communities.

The Baakoniaba bad roads are also affecting businesses in the community. Traders who transport foodstuff and other goods to and from Baakoniaba sometimes experience delays. Movements in many parts of Baakoniaba is simply a nightmare, especially after heavy rainfall. This has raised serious concerns among residents who depend on transportation for their daily activities.

Students are another group affected by the problem. Some students struggle to get to school on time when vehicles cannot use the damaged roads. During periods of heavy rain, pedestrians may have to walk through muddy and flooded areas, making their journey uncomfortable and unsafe.

Residents are therefore appealing to the authorities to take immediate action to improve the current state of the roads. They believe that reconstructing and rehabilitating these roads will make transportation easier, improve business activities, and contribute to the community's development.

The people of Baakoniaba are hopeful that the relevant authorities will listen to their concerns and begin work on the roads soon. Until then, residents continue to cope with the difficulties caused by the poor road conditions.
