Interior Minister assures Russian Ambassador of Ghana’s Democratic stability

The Minister for the Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has assured the Russian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Andrei Ordash, that Ghana’s democratic system remains strong and stable.

He said Ghana, since adopting the democratic system, had experienced peaceful transfers of political power from one government to another, demonstrating the country’s commitment to peace and democratic governance.

Mr Muntaka made the remarks when the Russian Ambassador paid a courtesy call on him, during which they discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly security cooperation between Ghana and Russia.

He acknowledged that, although democracy came with its challenges, the people of Ghana continued to value peace and had demonstrated this through their commitment to peaceful political transitions.

The Minister stressed the importance of international cooperation in addressing emerging security threats, noting that no country could exist in isolation.

He said collaboration with other countries, including the exchange of ideas, experiences and relevant security information, was critical to strengthening Ghana’s peace and security.

Mr Muntaka also highlighted the long-standing cordial relations between Ghana and Russia, tracing the relationship to the era of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He called for greater cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the area of training and other fields of mutual interest, to strengthen the capacity of security institutions.

The Minister expressed the hope that the existing relationship between Ghana and Russia would continue to grow and provide opportunities for both countries to address common security concerns.

The Russian Ambassador, H.E. Andrei Ordash, for his part, commended Mr Muntaka for his leadership and focus on security matters in Ghana.

He expressed appreciation to the Minister for the warm reception and called for stronger inter-state cooperation in security to promote mutual benefits for Ghana and Russia.
