
Black Stars Coach, Claude Le Roy will on January 10, 2008 name his final 23-man squad for the 26th MTN African Cup of Nations which kick-starts in Accra on January 20.
This was disclosed by the Black Stars Team Manager, Opoku Afriyie in an interview with Sometimer Otuo Acheampong of Kessben FM from the team's base in far away Dubai.
Mr. Afriyie said the Black Stars may likely play two high quality friendly matches before Coach Leroy names his final team.
He expressed satisfaction about the facilities at the Black Stars' training base, contending it would help the technical team to give the best of training to the players.
“The weather and facilities at the training base are of high quality,” he said.
The Black Stars of Ghana are pitched in Group A alongside Guinea, Namibia and Morocco, and they kick-off the tournament on January 20 when they come face-to-face with Guinea.
Ghana, four-time winners of the nations cup, last won the tournament in far away Libya in 1982.
It would be recalled that Le Roy named a 26-man provisional squad for the soccer fiesta a few days ago and out of this number, 23 players would make it to the tournament. From Fred J. A. Ibrahim Jnr., Kumasi
