Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Nyarko Osei, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put aside past differences and unite ahead of the 2028 general election.

He said the party’s return to power should not be centred on the ambitions or candidature of any individual member.

According to him, the NPP’s survival and the need to shorten its time in opposition should be the priority of all party members.

“Winning election 2028 is not about Dr. Bawumia or any individual person in the party. It’s about the preservation of the NPP and also to shorten our time in opposition,” he wrote in a social media post on Friday, August 28.

The lawmaker cautioned that a failure by the party to recognise the importance of the 2028 election could prolong its stay in opposition.

He said the NPP’s previous 30-year period in opposition should serve as a lesson as the party prepares for the next general election.

He therefore called on members to close their ranks and work together to improve the party’s chances of returning to power.

“I pray and hope we will get over the past and put all our hands on the wheels together to recapture power in the next general election,” he added.
