DAAR-US-SUNNAH Centre for Hadith Studies inaugurated in Accra

The Islamic Council for Development and Humanitarian Services (ICODEHS) has officially inaugurated DAAR-US-SUNNAH, a new institute dedicated to the study, teaching and promotion of the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the ICODEHS conference hall in Accra, brought together the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Dr. Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, Sheikh Hidr Iddris, the Greater Accra ASWAJ Imam, Islamic scholars, traditional chiefs and other distinguished guests.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of ICODEHS and founder of the initiative, Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim, said the establishment of DAAR-US-SUNNAH was motivated by the need to provide Muslims, particularly the younger generation, with access to sound, structured and systematic knowledge of the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

He said the institute would play an important role in preserving and promoting the Sunnah while equipping students with the knowledge needed to understand and apply the teachings of the Prophet (SAW) in their daily lives.

According to Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim, DAAR-US-SUNNAH is also expected to produce knowledgeable graduates who can contribute positively to their communities and help strengthen Islamic education in Ghana.

The National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, underscored the importance of Hadith studies, describing the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as an essential source of guidance for Muslims.

He encouraged Muslims, particularly young people, to take the study of Hadith seriously and commended ICODEHS for establishing a specialised centre dedicated to the subject.

Other Islamic scholars who attended the ceremony welcomed the initiative, describing DAAR-US-SUNNAH as a timely contribution to Islamic education in Ghana.

They expressed their readiness to support and cooperate with the institute to ensure its growth and success.

Traditional chiefs and other distinguished guests also welcomed the establishment of the centre, noting the important role of Islamic education in promoting moral values, knowledge, peaceful coexistence and responsible citizenship.

The establishment of DAAR-US-SUNNAH further expands the educational and humanitarian activities of ICODEHS, with the new institute expected to offer structured studies in Hadith and related Islamic sciences.
