Pelpuo urges Carmensita Manufacturing Company to adopt 24-hour production

The Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, Dr Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, has urged Carmensita Manufacturing Company to operate on a 24-hour basis to increase production, create more jobs and support Ghana’s economic growth.

He said extending production beyond the current working hours would enable the company to maximise its production capacity while creating additional employment opportunities for Ghanaians.

He said this when he visited the headquarters of Carmensita and its furniture manufacturing facility, where he engaged the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Najib Fakih, on the operations and plans of the company.

The Minister said the government was interested in supporting local industries to expand their operations and provide decent employment for the growing number of young people seeking jobs.

He encouraged Carmensita to explore ways to increase its production capacity and make full use of its facilities to meet local market demand and create opportunities for further growth.

Dr Pelpuo said the adoption of a 24-hour production system could also help the company improve its competitiveness and contribute more to Ghana’s manufacturing sector.

He assured the company of the Ministry’s readiness to engage with businesses and other stakeholders to address labour-related concerns that could affect expansion and job creation.

The Chief Executive Officer of Carmensita, Dr Najib Fakih, expressed appreciation to the Minister for the visit and said the company remains committed to expanding its operations and contributing to job creation.

He said the company would continue to explore opportunities to improve production, strengthen its workforce and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s furniture manufacturing industry.

Carmensita Manufacturing Company is engaged in furniture production and provides employment opportunities through its manufacturing and related activities.
