Islamic University lecturer hails Sammy Gyamfi’s leadership and communication skills

Alhaji Mohammed Amin Lamptey Hussein, a lecturer at the Islamic University, communication and public relations expert, and Communications Director of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG), has praised the leadership qualities, communication skills and political acumen of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Lawyer Samuel Adu Gyamfi.

Reflecting on his observations of Sammy Gyamfi over the years, Alhaji Lamptey Hussein said he had come to appreciate him as an ambitious and dedicated young man who is committed to his dreams, an effective communicator and a person with excellent human relations.

According to him, Sammy Gyamfi has played a strategic leadership role in transforming the political communication management of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), and by extension, contributed to Ghana’s broader political communication landscape.

“He carefully studied the Ghanaian political environment and devised strategic approaches to effectively handle political communication, marketing and election campaigns,” he said.

Alhaji Lamptey Hussein said Sammy Gyamfi’s strategic approach to political communication helped transform the way the NDC communicated its policies and political messages to the Ghanaian public.

Alhaji Lamptey Hussein said since his appointment as the CEO of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi had spearheaded reforms aimed at strengthening Ghana’s gold sector, formalising small-scale mining and improving the country’s earnings from gold.

Among the reforms he highlighted were measures to protect the domestic gold trade, the establishment of district-level gold-buying centres, the introduction of digital traceability mechanisms and institutional reforms designed to strengthen transparency in the gold trade.

He also cited measures aimed at increasing foreign exchange earnings, strengthening the state’s participation in the domestic gold market and promoting value addition through local refining.

Intellectual Discourse
Alhaji Lamptey Hussein also described the public exchanges between Sammy Gyamfi and Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as “engaging and instructive.”

He said their engagements offered an important platform for political discourse and learning, but stressed the need for both personalities to apply diplomacy, critical thinking and logical analysis in their verification, explanation and delivery of information.

“As observers, we must also listen with open and dispassionate minds to help shape informed public opinion,” he said.

He cautioned the public against misquoting the two political figures, noting that inaccurate quotations could create misconceptions and contribute to the spread of disinformation.

Call for Young Politicians to Emulate Them

Alhaji Lamptey Hussein described Sammy Gyamfi and Alexander Afenyo-Markin as two leading voices in Ghana’s contemporary political discourse and said their engagements could help set a new standard for intellectual political engagement.

“I believe that at this moment, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin and Sammy Adu Gyamfi are the two leading voices on our mainstream political spectrum setting a new standard of intellectual political engagement,” he said.

He urged young politicians to emulate their communication abilities, debating skills and engagement on national issues, saying this would contribute to strengthening Ghana’s democratic culture.

He further appealed to critics of Sammy Gyamfi to take a second look at his communication skills, charisma, persona and leadership style before engaging him.

According to Alhaji Lamptey Hussein, Sammy Gyamfi possesses exceptional talent in public communication and political engagement, qualities which, in his assessment, have contributed to his growing prominence in Ghanaian public life.
