Auditor General’s report made no adverse findings against GoldBod — CEO

The 2025 audit of Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) financial statements by the Auditor General found no adverse findings against the institution.

The Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi Esq., disclosed this on Wednesday during the government accountability series at the Jubilee House

He said the audit established that the institution did not record an operational loss in 2025, contrary to claims being made about its financial performance.

According to him, the audited annual report and financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025, showed an operational surplus of GH¢907 million and an overall surplus of GH¢5.4 billion.

Mr Gyamfi explained that the operational surplus represented the difference between GoldBod’s revenue from its own operations and its expenditure during the year.

He said GoldBod generated close to GH¢1 billion in revenue from its operations while expenditure stood at about GH¢109 million, resulting in the GH¢907 million operational surplus.

The Chief Executive Officer said the overall surplus included the GH¢4.5 billion revolving seed capital provided by the government as equity for the newly established GoldBod.

He noted that the funds were credited to GoldBod’s accounts around December 30, 2025, and remained unencumbered and available, accounting for their inclusion in the institution’s overall surplus.

Mr Gyamfi said the financial statements were prepared and audited in accordance with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and published by the Auditor General.

He said the audit process provided the Auditor General with unhindered access to the relevant information required to assess GoldBod’s 2025 financials.

“All documents requested by them were supplied and all queries raised by them in their management letter were satisfactorily answered,” he said.

Mr Gyamfi further stated that the Auditor General’s report contained no adverse findings against GoldBod concerning its 2025 accounts.

He said the audit found no adverse issues relating to alleged losses, procurement breaches or breaches of the Public Financial Management Act.

The GoldBod CEO therefore urged the media and the public to rely on the audited financial statements when assessing the institution’s financial performance.

He said the audited report provided an independent basis for determining GoldBod’s financial position and rejected claims that the institution recorded losses from its gold trading operations in 2025.

Mr Gyamfi said copies of the audited financial statements had been made available to the media to enable journalists and other stakeholders to independently examine the figures and verify the claims surrounding GoldBod’s financial performance.
