Rev. Owusu Bempah: Return To The Altar, Leave Politics To Politicians

You were called to preach Christ. That is the mandate.

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, founder of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, is in the news again. A viral video has him vowing to "collapse" the New Patriotic Party because of personal grievances with some big wigs in the party. He is heard telling his audience to "forget about the 2028 elections."

Whether you agree with his frustrations or not, this is the wrong battle for a man of God to fight. And if indeed God called you, then you must return to what God sent you to do.

The Calling Is Clear: The Great Commission

Jesus gave one assignment to those He called. In Matthew 28:18-20, He said: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."

That is the Great Commission. It is about preaching the gospel to sinners. It is about praying for salvation. It is about turning hearts to God, not turning parties against each other.

Your pulpit is not a political platform. Your anointing is not for fighting political battles. Your church is not a campaign headquarters.

When a pastor trades soul-winning for party-winning, both the church and the nation suffer.

What Went Wrong: Dining With Politicians

The truth is this: you got offended because you got too close.

When men of God start "dining and wining" with politicians, they enter a space God never assigned them. Politics is about power, interests, alliances, and disappointments. The church is about grace, forgiveness, truth, and eternal matters.

The moment you tie your ministry’s relevance to who is in power, you set yourself up for pain. Politicians will disappoint you. Parties will use you and drop you. Big wigs will make promises they won’t keep. That is how the system works.

But you are not supposed to be in that system in the first place.

It is your choice to meddle in partisan politics that has brought you to this point of anger. And now the anger is spilling into public threats against a political party. That is not the spirit of Christ. That is not ministry.

God Is Not In This Battle

Let us be very direct: God is not interested in this battle you have picked with the NPP.

God did not call you to build or collapse political parties. He called you to build people. He called you to rescue souls from sin. The mission of the NPP, or any political party, as defined in a democracy, is to seek political power and govern. The mission God gave you is different.

When you confuse the two missions, you dilute the gospel and you weaken your credibility. People stop hearing "Jesus saves" and start hearing "this pastor hates this party." That is a tragedy.

The NPP will do its work with or without you. Elections will come in 2028 with or without your endorsement or condemnation. But souls are perishing now, and they need you at the altar, not on political warpath.

The Damage This Causes

1. To the Church: Young believers are watching. They are learning that ministry means taking sides, insulting opponents, and using the pulpit for vendetta. That is not discipleship. That is partisanship.

2. To Your Own Ministry: Every minute spent talking about collapsing a party is a minute not spent preaching Christ. Every energy spent nursing political offense is energy taken away from prayer, counseling, and evangelism.

3. To the Nation: Ghana needs pastors who will pray for all leaders, not pastors who will declare war on parties. Romans 13 tells us to pray for those in authority. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 is clear on that.

My Advice To You, Man of God

Rev. Owusu Bempah, with all due respect, step back.

1. Return to the Great Commission. Go back to preaching Christ crucified. Go back to altar calls. Go back to visiting hospitals, prisons, and the streets. That is where your power is. That is where lives are changed.

2. Forgive and let go. If some "big wigs" in the NPP offended you, forgive them. Matthew 6:14. You cannot lead people to the cross while holding bitterness in your heart. Politics will always offend you if you stay in it. The gospel will always heal you if you return to it.

3. Pray for the NPP and the NDC and all parties. That is your biblical role. Pray that Ghana gets leaders with wisdom. Pray that 2028 elections are peaceful. But do not declare yourself an enemy of a party. That is not your office.

4. Keep the church out of partisan politics. Teach your members to be responsible citizens who vote, but do not turn Glorious Word Power into an NPP or NDC church. The church must be for all sinners who want to be saved.

To The NPP Other Political Parties As Well

The party also has a lesson here. Do not use pastors as political tools and then abandon them. Do not create an environment where men of God feel used and bitter. Respect the separation. Let the church do church work, and let the party do political work.

Final Word

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, God did not call you to collapse the NPP. God called you to build the Kingdom.

The political party has its work to do. You have yours to do.

Your work is eternal. Theirs is temporal. Do not trade eternal impact for temporal offense.

Go back to winning souls. Go back to the Great Commission. That is where your authority lies. That is where God’s hand is.

Leave the 2028 elections to the politicians. You face a higher election — the judgment seat of Christ, where you will account for the souls God gave you to shepherd.

The pulpit is waiting. The lost are waiting. Ghana needs your prayers, not your political wars.
