The Ghana Adventist Health Services of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church has expressed readiness to partner the government to complete selected Agenda 111 health projects across the country.
The commitment was made when a delegation from the SDA Church, led by Dr James Antwi, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, on Monday, August 10.
The delegation presented a proposal focusing on four key areas, including trauma care, holistic wellness, oncology and cancer treatment, as well as rehabilitation and health services.
The proposal seeks to position the SDA Church as a strategic partner in improving healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved communities.
The Health Minister welcomed the proposal and said partnerships with faith-based organisations and the private sector were necessary to address the growing demands on Ghana's health sector.
He urged the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) and private sector institutions to identify specific Agenda 111 projects they were willing to support and work with the government towards their completion and operationalisation.
Mr Akandoh assured potential partners that the government would provide the necessary guidance to facilitate the completion of the projects.
He clarified that the proposed partnerships would not require partners to make financial contributions directly to government but rather provide support towards completing specific health facilities.
The Minister commended the SDA Church for its contribution to healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved communities, and expressed appreciation for its willingness to support the government's health agenda.
The Agenda 111 initiative, launched under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was designed to construct 111 hospitals across the country.
It includes 104 district hospitals, seven regional hospitals and psychiatric facilities aimed at improving access to healthcare.
