GETFund launches national collective furniture appeal to support basic, junior and senior high schools

As part of the government's unwavering commitment to strengthening Ghana's education system and ensuring equitable access to quality learning opportunities for every child, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), through its Education Financing and Partnership Initiative (EFPI), has launched a nationwide Collective Furniture Appeal to mobilize support for schools facing critical shortages of classroom furniture.

The initiative aligns with the vision of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama to transform Ghana's education sector through strategic partnerships, innovative financing and shared national responsibility. It complements Government's ongoing investments in educational infrastructure, teaching and learning resources, and policies aimed at improving learning outcomes across the country.

Since its establishment, GETFund has remained at the forefront of financing educational development in Ghana. Through EFPI, the Fund is expanding opportunities for the private sector, development partners, philanthropic organizations, alumni associations, faith-based institutions, civil society organizations, and individuals to contribute meaningfully to national education development.

The Collective Furniture Appeal is a response to numerous requests from schools across the country seeking support to provide essential classroom furniture, including students' metal mono and dual desks and chairs, bunk beds, teachers' tables and chairs, and other learning essentials needed to create safe, dignified, and conducive learning environments.

Despite government's sustained investment in educational infrastructure, furniture deficits remain a challenge in many communities. In several schools, pupils continue to share desks or study under uncomfortable conditions that undermine effective teaching and learning. Addressing these gaps requires a collective national effort that complements Government's ongoing interventions.

Through this campaign, GETFund is inviting corporate Ghana, alumni associations, NGOs, development partners, traditional authorities, religious bodies, community organizations, philanthropists, and the general public to donate new or gently used classroom furniture to support schools in need.
