Nkoranza Gets New DVLA Office, Ending Years of Travel to Techiman and Kintampo

Residents of Nkoranza and surrounding communities in the Bono East Region will no longer have to travel to Techiman or Kintampo for driver licensing and vehicle registration services, following the commissioning of a new Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office in the municipality.

At the official ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, assured traditional authorities, clergy and the general public that the new office will provide all services available at DVLA branches nationwide. He emphasized that the facility is fully equipped to serve the needs of drivers, vehicle owners and motorcyclists in the area.

Mr. Kotey also issued a strong warning against the activities of goro boys, stating that such practices will not be tolerated at the new office. He encouraged residents to deal directly with DVLA officials for all services.

He further introduced Mr. Ibrahim Bamba, the newly appointed Manager of the Nkoranza DVLA office, and cautioned him to ensure that no unauthorized middlemen operate within the facility.

The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South and Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives, Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, expressed profound appreciation to the DVLA CEO and his deputies for their support in establishing the office. He praised Mr. Kotey’s leadership, describing him as one of the most dynamic CEOs the DVLA has had, and commended his innovative strategies aimed at strengthening the institution nationwide.

Hon. Agyekum urged drivers and vehicle owners in Nkoranza to patronise the services of the new office rather than travelling elsewhere. He also thanked the First Lady, Madam Lordina Mahama, for her continuous support toward development in Nkoranza. He noted that under the NDC government led by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, several projects have been completed in the municipality, with more expected to commence. He assured residents that the Nkoranza–Techiman road will be reconstructed in 2027.

The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, thanked Nkoranza Manhene Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, the MP, the Bono East NDC Regional Chairman Chair Owusu Unas (Chairman Unasco), and all dignitaries present for their support. He appealed to Nananom to release land for the construction of a permanent DVLA office building in Nkoranza and commended all stakeholders who contributed to making the facility operational. He also acknowledged DVLA officers for educating the public on the newly rolled‑out number plate system.

A representative of Nana Kwame Baffoe IV, who chaired the occasion, thanked the Regional Minister, DVLA CEO, MP and other dignitaries for their support. He urged participants and officials to respect time in their engagements and assured the Regional Minister that Nananom will provide land for the construction of a permanent DVLA office in the municipality.
