The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has paid a working visit to the North Dayi Constituency where he commissioned two mechanised boreholes and cut sod for six new educational infrastructure projects.

The two 10,000-litre capacity mechanised boreholes were commissioned at Anfoega Senior High School and Vakpo Senior High School under Phase II of the “Water for All Project.”

According to the Regional Minister, the facilities are powered by both the national grid and solar energy, ensuring a reliable supply of safe water at all times for students and staff.

Hon. Gunu was joined by the Member of Parliament for North Dayi, Hon. Joycelyn Tetteh Quarshie, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Adevor, to perform the sod-cutting ceremony for the new projects.

The six projects include an 18-unit classroom block at Vakpo Senior High Technical School, and a two-storey boys’ dormitory also at Vakpo Senior High Technical School.

Other projects are a two-storey girls’ dormitory at Anfoega Senior High School, a three-unit classroom block at Avevi-Denui D/A JHS, a three-unit classroom block at Tsrukpe Zanukofe D/A JHS, and a three-unit classroom block at Bofoku Bradafornu D/A JHS.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Gunu assured the people that funding for all the projects has been secured and that they will be closely monitored to ensure timely completion.

He said the interventions align with the vision of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama to eliminate abandoned projects and to expand access to quality education across the country.

The Regional Minister noted that improving infrastructure in senior high and basic schools remains a priority for the government to create a conducive learning environment for students in the region.

As part of efforts to promote sports development in schools, Hon. Gunu also donated two footballs and a set of jerseys each to Anfoega Senior High School, Vakpo Senior High School, and Vakpo Senior High Technical School.

Community members, school authorities, and students welcomed the initiatives, expressing optimism that the new facilities will improve teaching and learning, access to potable water, and sporting activities in North Dayi Constituency.
